Texas Regional HIMSS Conference

By May 19, 2022August 3rd, 2022No Comments

Nick Kagal FACHE HIMSSSpinSci was excited to be a sponsor of the Texas Regional HIMSS conference held from May 8th through May 10th at the Gaylord Conference Center in Grapevine, Texas. Healthcare leaders attended from across the state and country to learn, network and enjoy some Texas Hospitality.

The event started with a wonderful reception on Sunday night allowing some of the almost 500 attendees to mingle and get ready for the next two days. Great drinks and food were enjoyed with a definite Southern flair with Texas brisket, Chicken & Waffles, and more. We were proud to have our Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, Nick Kagal, a board member of DFW HIMSS, open the reception and serve as a moderator throughout the conference.

Nick Kagal with Gene H Winfrey - SpinSciOfficial festivities kicked off on Monday with Jon Manis, the CIO of CHRISTUS Health delivering an on point keynote focusing on transforming healthcare. Mr. Manis opened with some interesting facts, including that 71% of our population is now Gen Y, Gen X, Gen Z or millennials…they were born with a smart phone in hand. He also shared that the largest influx of venture capital on record was going into digital health focusing on:

  1. Mobility
  2. Self-Service
  3. Virtual Health & Tele-medicine
  4. Implantables
  5. Ingestibles and
  6. Wearables

Mr. Manis stressed that the transformation that needs to happen in healthcare is not necessarily digital, it’s really experiential. There will be a large focus on self-service and being location agnostic. Ultimately we’ll continue to move away from the heads in beds model and focus on prediction, prevention and then provision of care. Finally Mr. Manis discussed the need for automating tasks in healthcare- and this remained a common theme throughout the next two days.

Other sessions during the conference focused on digital transformation of healthcare including the future of virtual care and the importance of leveraging technology and AI to understand patient behavior and intent. So much of quality in healthcare is tied to access, and one session focused on rural healthcare and the barriers these providers face in terms of technology.

SpinSci and Uniphore Support today's Digitally Enlightned Healthcare Customers

SpinSci was thrilled to co-sponsor the Monday exhibit hall reception with our partner Uniphore. Attendees filled the exhibit floor and enjoyed drinks, food and of course multiple gift raffles. Winners from SpinSci and Uniphore won Apple AirPods, an Oculus, Amazon gift cards and more. Few left empty handed. The Texas HIMSS Regional Conference was a great success and we can’t wait for next year’s event!
