Justin Kutilek took a non-traditional route in that he worked out of high school. He attended community college at DuPage, Illinois and got his associates then transferred to the University of Kansas. However, he lived in Downtown Kansas and had to make a long drive to Lawrence, so he transferred again to the University of Missouri in Kansas City to study Business Administration with a focus in Entrepreneurship with aspirations of one day owning his own business. Justin joined the SpinSci team in August 2018 as part of the marketing team for 2 years and then transitioned to an inside sales role working with partners. From there he geared his focus towards sales as an Account Manager and is now our Customer Success Manager.
Fun Facts
I love to travel specifically to the Caribbean – I’ve been on many cruises, 6 to be exact. I also love to cook! It doesn’t matter what the cuisine is – I’m always fine tuning on my recipes. I have 4 siblings who I wouldn’t trade for the world. Having a big tight-knit family is part of what made me who I am today.
Tell us one extraordinary thing that you have never done and would like to do?
I would like to start creating content for social media. I’ve always wanted to showcase my cooking skills whether it’s on Instagram or YouTube. My girlfriend has a gluten free intolerance, so I’ve had to learn to create recipes that are conscious of those facts. 🍲
What are a few of your favorite hobbies and interests?
Sports – I’m a huge Chicago sports fan and as far as attending events, I have a bucket list. Last year I got to go to a World Series game and the NFL draft which are two very monumental moments for me.
Describe one of your favorite work memories
At Cisco Live, I was given the opportunity to present on SpinSci’s behalf in front of an auditorium which was a really proud moment for me. I love opportunities to sing SpinSci’s praises. Also, seeing the Foo Fighters in person and starting a mosh pit with Rajit was a great time and a perfect end to the trip. 🎸
What cuisine do you enjoy the most?
I would say breakfast because it’s a good blend of savory and sweet, it’s generally pretty clean, and you can have it any time of day. I love breakfast burritos, but I don’t typically eat them in the morning. Breakfast for dinner is one of my favorite meals.
Do you have any pets?
I have a rabbit named Lily and she’s my joy. She meets me every morning at the fridge looking for her banana slice for the day. She’s potty trained, free roams the house, and is completely independent! 🐰
Who has been your inspiration in life?
My father and my brothers because of their outlook and attitude towards life and their values. They always keep a positive attitude, work hard for their families, and are respectful to others.
What do you like about SpinSci?
The culture, the solutions, and the people. Everyone I work with has a great attitude and while a lot of the people I work with are smarter, they are all very helpful when it comes to teaching, ideating, and creating solutions.
What do you think makes our team culture unique?
Leadership and their ability to motivate and constantly have their finger on the pulse of the industry. We are a trusted partner of Healthcare Organizations, partners, and many tech platforms due to their guidance.
Something about yourself others don’t know?
I’m expecting to be a father in the next 4-5 months to a little boy who will be named Geo, for my father and my significant others father.
What are your dreams and aspirations in life?
To have a family like I had growing up. I’d like to be a great dad who can guide and direct my child to make sure they have a fruitful life.
What is your favorite movie?
Any Quentin Tarantino or Christopher Nolan movie because I like their style and the way they tell stories. Their movies are typically action based – a little gory – but there’s always a good lesson in his films.
Where’s a place you’d like to visit?
Being out in Arizona, the Grand Canyon has become my next destination to visit. It’s one of the 9 wonders of the world and it’s right in my backyard.
What’s one item you can’t live without?
Workout equipment as it’s my one key to discipline. It provides stress release and being able to see the progress of your hard work over time is very rewarding. 🏋🏻
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Sweet treats – kettle corn, strawberry ice cream – I enjoy anything that satisfies my sweet tooth.
