SpinSci-Clist Team Profile – Ashvin “Ash” Asava

Ashvin “Ash” Asava is SpinSci’s Vice President of Sales. Ashvin grew up in Frisco, Texas and has a younger brother. Ash graduated from Southern Methodist University with a degree in Computer Science and began his career at SpinSci as a college intern. Ash was recently engaged and just purchased his first home in Grapevine, Texas.

Can you tell us about what type of music you typically listen to?

I’m really into Pop Music, especially Drake.

Which are your few favorite movies?

For English movies I like The 18 and for Indian Movies – Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham.

Tell us what you like to do with your free time?

I’ve always been a competitor and I love playing golf and basketball. In fact I was a Junior Golf Champion in high school and played with some current touring professionals.

What are some of your Favourite Foods?

I’m not a good cook at all. In fact I usually burn spaghetti. I love pizza and my favorite Indian food is Dal Bhati and Chole Bhatura. I also dream of going to India and eating the famous Hyderabadi Biryani I’ve heard so much about.

How do you grow and develop as a leader?

I firmly believe that leadership is all about empathy and trust. It’s about bi-directionally scaling and empowering our teams, and as a result I am able to grow as they do. I think it’s paramount that we keep studying leadership and reading leadership moments and understanding some of those key points.

What do you like about SpinSci?

I’m really happy at SpinSci. It’s a flat hierarchy and everyone works hard. I feel appreciated and motivated by Rajit and Kiran, two of our leaders. Our CEO Rajit has amazing technical and marketing knowledge.

How do you keep your team motivated?

I think internal competition is the key along with maintaining a short memory with the last goals. I love challenging my team. From a sales perspective we have to be goal focused. It’s all about empowering the team and making them their own CEO for their goals.

What inspires you? Who’s your role model?

My dad Andy Asava has been my inspiration in life and Rajit has been my Mentor.

Tell us something no one knows about you?

I majored in Computer Science/ Computer Engineering at SMU, so for those who think I don’t understand our Technology-I do.
