Meet our Director of Delivery Management, Narayan Kulkarni

Narayan is a four-year veteran of SpinSci and previously served as VP of Operations. He previously worked at Kodak and was on the faculty of the Rochester Institute of Technology. Narayan holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from IIT (Mumbai), an MBA from the University of Rochester & an MS in Computer Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Tell us where you’re from.

I’m from the rural town of Satara in the state of Maharashtra in India and I immigrated to the US in 1980 to further my education. I currently live in Virginia.

Tell us about your family.

I’m the youngest of seven children and they all currently live in the city of Pune. I have two brothers and four sisters, so seven in all.

Can you tell us about the types of movies and music that you enjoy?

I like to listen to older Hindi music and Marathi songs. In terms of movies, I like the classics…especially dramas.

How about hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?

 I have several interesting hobbies- I like to read novels and enjoy gardening, hiking and nature trekking. I also enjoy painting and really love South Indian food.

What type of advice do you have from your experience in leadership?

I think we really need to follow our processes, it matters what you do as long as you do it right. Essentially we need to make sure we’re getting things done correctly the first time around.

What do you enjoy about SpinSci?

I really enjoy the people around me. There’s an energy that’s contagious and there’s a lot of enthusiasm. People here are very curious and everyone is interested in continuing to expand their learning and have a willingness to try new things

What’s one thing you’d like to do that you haven’t so far?

One thing I’d like to do is travel on a cruise.

What’s one thing people don’t know about you?

One thing most people don’t know about me is that I worked for the Government of India as a nuclear chemical engineer.
